SUBPRIME LENDING FALLOUT

Stock market, a very common word
To everybody in the whole world.
To some people it can bring prosperity,
But a hazardous tool to some that can lead to poverty.

Some businessmen have decided to make money at any cost,
Even if some poor people for ever will be lost.
The profit unfortunately is all they cared
Because feelings do not have to be spared.

But alas, the profit in this way
Aiming at people as prey
It is not just a capital gain
But it brings misery and pain.

The pain started when people were enticed
To buy homes without collateral to be priced.
All the process was called Subprime lending,
Nice in the beginning, but with a terrible ending.

The plan was brilliant, to invest in homes in a more risky way
And from the people with poor credit to take the money away.
Promising to some people their life’s dream to become reality,
And to have a home that they would never have in actuality.

But there was a trick in it, the rate structure of subprime mortgage,
From fixed to variable rate and was called adjustable rate mortgage.
The borrowers initially were very happy to pay a lower interest rate
But the problem came up when then mortgage rates reset to higher rate.

Then mortgage payments increased significantly causing to the borrowers stress,
Because it was possible the banks or other institutions their homes to repossess.
Seeing that the stock market started to react nervously
And to the whole world to cause panic tremendously.

Tears in the people’s eyes appeared
As theirs life dream disappeared.
The life for them would never be the same
Irrespectively to whom they are going to put the blame.

Their life’s dream became a nightmare
But to start a new life had to dare.
Life maybe to them was merciless and cruel
But that, for a new start they should use it for fuel.

Some of them leaved the town they used to live
And homeless went in tents camps cities to relive.
Over there living with other homeless together
They had to face the bitterness of the weather.

But that was not the worst that they suffer,
It was the discrimination and the people’s laughter
That they had to face up waking up every day
Which was breaking their heart at their dismay.

Words, that they were irresponsible
And deserved the worst possible
Were causing too much pain and like a dart
Was tearing apart in pieces their heart.

Some others had to sleep in the car during the night,
Because they did not have any place to spend the night
With the fear to be arrested like criminals were falling asleep
And waking up to any moment from a police’s car beep.

But this fear was not the only one problem were facing,
They were feeling depressed, worthless and incapacitating.
All of the victims had the symptoms of a war or natural disaster.
A sense of despair and helplessness, anxiety, shame and anger.

In the new brutal situation that they have to survive
They must leave their past and forwards to drive.
However feelings can not disappear as much they wanted.
In theirs dreams come during the nights, feelings like being haunted.

They wake up during the sleep in cold sweat and tears come to their eyes
As to their mind the events of the past come until from the bed they rise.
“Oh God, why this is happening to us, what is our great sin?
Why the people don’t leave us alone? Why they are so mean?

We are responsible for the world’s financial plight?
And not the greediness of the bankers, who are so polite?
God, if we were so powerful to affect the world’s financial situation,
Should we have the whole world’s respect and admiration?

However the reality even to some people not agreeable
Is gloomy tragic, desperate and very miserable.
Our sin was that we believed in a dream so nice
And to fall in the trap of the lenders without advice.

And now oh God we pay every day.
You can not imagine in which way.
There is no future in our life, it has been doomed
And the tears and the stress our body has consumed.

It seems that our torture will be without end.
We don’t even have the minimum money to spend,
Not only a solution to our problem seems no to exist
But others problems as well seem to insist.

I hope that the day soon will come
That some things will be done
Our miserable life to improve
And in a better place to move.

So, God give us the strength the situation to survive
Not to lose our courage and forwards to drive
In order to be able to reach our goal
And to be free from the pain of our soul”.

However the wind of this crisis did not stop here
It started throughout the whole world to appear
Everywhere the toxic bonds caused stress and too much fear
And the stock markets were collapsing to the whole sphere.

There was a lot of commotion all over the world
And in everybody’s lips there was just one word
That was bringing jitters to many people, recession,
And to many others caused depression.

Many banks started to be in difficult position
And some of them were in a very awful condition,
To be saved were imploring the State
But it left them unfortunately to their fate.

So since there was not the desired help
Bankruptcy was the next inevitable step
Which brought financial aggravation
And caused to many people desperation.

Unemployed started to pile up and they were scared
Because for this situation they were not prepared.
It seemed almost certain it would start a financial depression
That would cause to many people anxiety and depression.

So the government took some important decisions
To save some banks and financial institutions.
In this way the collapse of the economy would be avoided
And every financial turbulence would be voided.

However there was a lot of resentment for banks’ misbehavior
Instead to be grateful to the people who were their savior
They tried to the highest degree to exploit the situation
And to make to their system the people’s subjugation.

The so called golden boys were very proud
Squandering financial aid’s money around.
Someone could see without doubt their crystal perceptions
For the people the way they held their parties and receptions.

Poor people were the ones that they could spit on
And their bodies that they could step on.
Their money that intended to save the economy of the nation
Gave to the golden boys' unethical character and behavior an elation.

And unfortunately helped only the banks and the money institutions
But did not bring for the rest of the people the so desired solutions.
Most of the people at their dismay had a financial deterioration
Which led them to an insurmountable disappointment and indignation.
